Minutes of the November 3, 2008 Members Meeting

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008In attendance:
Secretary’s Report
Minutes of the October meeting were presented and approved.
- Don Loomis reported that we had a balance of $1512.43 as of 10/31/2008
Membership Chairman’s Report:
- 102 members in the Pan Am and 6 of them are currently past due and may not return.
- Summaries for the end of the year are posted on the website.
- 102 people participated this year and only 16 people qualified for awards.
- Tire class will be added next year with the rules yet to be decided.
- The club needs to actively seek an alternate site to hold the events. We may not be able to secure Cohen stadium for our events next year. We are currently looking at EPCC Valle Verde campus and the Culberson County Airport in Van Horn, TX.
- The Culberson airport can be used free of charge it is however 100 miles from Horizon city.
- Luis Moreno and Bill Walker will be surveying the site and take video.
- Pan Am racers participated both in the So Pac (Arizona) and Rocky Mountain Division.
- Jose Gerardo was the RMD point�s leader in Formula Continental and won the division title for the Pan Am region.
- Richard Dziak was the first Pan Am racer to secure two regional championships in one year.
- John Basler completed the SCCA driver's school and won the first race that he entered. He will compete at Firebird Raceway on November 8th.
- The Richard Dziak Pan Am racing endowment provided financial assistance throughout the year to both Pan Am Club Racers and one Pan Am Solo racer.� In total, over $1200 was handed out in financial assistance.
- Clovis will be planning a "fun" weekend with 6 events. It will have to be carefully coordinated as to not conflict with other races, car shows etc.
- The "Cars under the Stars" show was a great success and lots of interest was shown. Two computers were setup with a replay of Dave's car on the solo course/
- Trailer desperately needs maintenance.
- Dave would like to have another timing and scoring training class. He will not be able to do all the events this year. The date is to be announced.
- The annual banquet has been changed to Saturday, December 6th at the westside Fuddruckers location. The club will not be able to pick up the majority of the meal and the menu has not yet been decided. Small awards will be given out and updates will come via e-mail and the club website.
