Minutes of the January meeting were presented and approved.
- Deborah Basler reported that we had a balance of $1995.73 as of 01/31/09
- New checks have been received with the new post office box address. Still waiting for a bank statement in the mail. New Post office box for the Pan Am SCCA is P.O. Box 972021 El Paso, TX 79997-2021.
- $28.00 is owed to Daniel Acevedo for the annual lease of the post office box and a new check is to be written to Karl Busch for an expense during last season.
Membership Chairman’s Report:
- 97 members currently with 10 due to expire this month.
- The street tire class will be a single class like rookies or ladies with a multiplier of 0.977
- Racers cannot run in the rookie AND street tire class simultaneously. They must choose one or the other.
- A new class called “JDM” with two sub classes will be created for the import racers who have done popular Japanese spec conversions. Doing the conversions with current SCCA classes would unfairly group them in the Street Modified class.
- New dates added to the schedule: Feb 15, May 24, June 28 and Aug 9. These dates will allow the club to schedule in the new Drifting racing and a Rally fun day.
- Luis Moreno expressed that the possibility of the facility being double booked even though we have already reserved the facility.
- The SCCA will not sanction a drift event so it will be run as a solo event. Speeds will be less than 60 MPH for safety.
- Passengers will not be allowed in the vehicle participating in the drift events.
- Team of racers have been trying to sell the drift event coming on February 15th. So far 20 have committed to attend.
- A MySpace page has been setup: www.myspace.com/panamsccadrift.
- $4000 available in the endowment. The endowment has paid out $1200 to help members pay for expenses.
- The Pan Am region gave $500 last year to the endowment and would like to see another donation if possible this year.
- 11 core club racers in the Pan Am region locally.
- Would like to organize the club racing members to show off their vehicles at a solo event(s) to attract interest in club and solo racing.
- Stan Czacki, Mark Kowalski and Jose Gerardo recorded two wins each in the month of January.
- Richard Dziak will race his vehicle in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Charity event on March 21 & 22.
- 2009 club racing schedules have been posted on the Pan Am website.
- Arroyo Seco Raceway has announced open track days for the 2009 season. Visit www.arroyosecoraceway.com for more details.
