Minutes of the July 6th, 2009 Members Meeting

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009

Secretary’s Report:

  • Minutes of the June meeting were presented and approved

Treasurer’s Report:

  • John Basler reported that we had a balance of $2256.54 as of 07/06/09. 
  • Dave needs to be reimbursed $149.00 for the Ax Ware renewal. 

Membership Chairman’s Report:

  • 79 members paid of which 15/20 who do not participate at the events.  4 people still on the rolls as safety stewards.  List has not yet been updated with new SSS. 

Timing and Scoring:

  • Ax Ware renewal is complete.  Files and classes have been updated. 

 

Solo Chairman’s Report:

 

  • Phil Becker will be the chair for the July 12th event.
  • Chair for August 2nd will be Duncan del Toro with Danny Acevedo as SSS.
  • Chair for August 23rd event will be Dave Lehrschall with Phil Becker as the SSS.
  • Luis Moreno will chair the October 11/12th event. 

Assistant RE Report: 

  • Cones to be sorted out at the event on Sunday July 12th.
  • Looking to donate old cones to the Kohmen foundation.
  • Need to dispose of about 200 old cones. 

Drift Racing Report:

 

  • There have been disagreements in the management of the program.  Kevin Parra will be taking over as chair and will try to get the program up and running again.
  • Kevin will email the group on modifications to the current rules he is proposing.
  • Drift participants not ready to join the SCCA due to inconsistent events and cancellations.
  • Club is looking for a commitment from the chair and participants.
  • Extra safety stewards needed for Drift events.
  • Motion to remove Rafael Segovia and place Kevin Parra as chair approved.
  • Will look at other possible dates to hold events.  If none are available, either October 18th or November 1st will be available for a drift event. 

 

Club Racing Chairman’s Report:

 

  • Club racing seems to be at a standstill.  There are 9 CR members and Hector Maldonado has not yet renewed.
  • Stan will represent the club in the runoffs.
  • Jose Gerardo is doubtful to participate in the runoffs.
  • John Basler is back online and will participate in September at the Firebird Raceway. 

 

Rally Report:

 

  • No updates from Clovis on the Funkhana so the club has cancelled the event.
  • Lester Townsend will be refunded the $125.00 deposit for the event. 

Old Business: 

  • Officer nominations should be done in September or October.
  • need to plan for the club party and date.
  • Juan Jimenez is planning a car show with race events and is looking for help from the Pan Am with setup and racers.  Possible drift or solo event with no SCCA affiliation to keep the club from any liability.
  • need to appoint a permanent Solo Chair.  Contact Luis Moreno to see if he is interested in that position once again.
