Minutes of the April 6, 2009 Members Meeting

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009 

In Attendance:

Secretary’s Report:

-Minutes of the April meeting were presented and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:

• Deborah Basler reported that we had a balance of $2324.27 as of 05/01/09.  This balance includes the $125 donation from Lester Townsend that is contingent on whether the Funkhana happens this year.
• A $500.00 donation received from David Morris and Paul Specer to help purchase new cones.  Special thanks to these individuals for this generous donation.  Thank you! 

Membership Chairman’s Report:

• Rudy Garcia owes $45 to become a member due to a credit of $15.00 per temporary membership.
• Love’s are national SCCA members but not members of the Pan Am region. 

Timing and Scoring:

• The trailer ball lock has a new key.  

Solo Chairman’s Report:

• Events in May are the 10th and the 24th.  May 24th had originally been scheduled as a drift event but the sanction was not submitted in the proper timeframe.
• Duncan Del Toro will be the event chair for the May 24th event.
• Luis Moreno will be the event chair for the fast five event.
• We need event chairs for the August 2nd and 23rd events.
• Award medallions have arrived and are in the trailer.
• We are going to rent a port a john for the fast five event since Cohen will not give us access to their restrooms. 

Drift Racing Report:

•  Drift event scheduled for May 24th has been cancelled.  Event sanction was not submitted in time. 

Club Racing Chairman’s Report:

• Current membership list for club racing is 10 members (roster in Topeka, Kansas).
• Stan Czacki continues to dominate the club racing program for the Pan Am and is headed for the runoffs late this year. He is in 1st place for national points in the So Pac Division as of April 14, 2009.
• Richard Dziak emerged as the 08-09 Saguaro Championship points leader in his class FB, Formula F1000.  He was a few races short of winning the 08-09 Championship.
• Richard has joined the Southwest Motorsports racing club for summer 09.  He will continue to race under the SCCA in the fall of 09.
• Next event is May 24th and 25th at Pikes Peak in Fountain, CO.
• May 23rd and 24th is an open track day at Arroyo Seco.  $50 half a day or $80 for a full day.
• Jose Gerardo’s car is torn apart and it appears doubtful he will participate in the runoffs. 

Rally Report:

• Brit car club has committed 20 vehicles for the Funkhana event.
• We need to secure insurance for the event since the SCCA will not sanction.
• Phil Becker out of town for the event and we need a safety steward. 

Old Business:

New Business:

• Look for a new webhosting that is less expensive.  GoDaddy.com was mentioned as a possibility.
• Talk with a Solo Safety Instructor to see if he/she can come to El Paso and give a training class for new safety stewards.  

RE Report:

• Next meetings will be on June 1st, July 6th, August 3rd and September 1st which is a Tuesday since the following Monday (Sept 7th) is Labor Day.
• Saturday May the 9th Cohen will have a car show and the May 10th solo event will have to be setup on Sunday morning.
