IMPORTANT NOTICE

We are also back on our "Summer Time Schedule" so we are starting one hour earlier than normal.  We will be setting up EARLY Sunday, there is an event taking place on saturday at Cohen so we need everyone's assistance to get there early and help set up the track and clear broken beer bottles, etc. Please contact Luis if you are able to help and he can give you more details.

As a reminder, we will again be taking dB readings at the event and at all future events (solo/drift).   100 dB will be the maximum sound limit.  Ignorance nor non-compliance of this sound limit rule is will not be tolerated.

The dB readings will be conducted in the method mentioned in the SCCA manual, 50ft from the course and at a point where cars will be at full throttle under load and with the reader perpendicular to the way of travel.

Notes for 2010 SCCA Solo and Drift Rules PDF Print E-mail
We wanted to give everyone a heads up to some safety issues that have occurred in the past and that will be checked during tech inspection rigorously during events this year.

  • All vehicles must have all the bodywork in place (bumpers, doors, etc.) and attached safely (dzus fasteners, bolts, screws, etc.) no plastic zip ties at all.
  • All vehicles must have proper vehicle insurance (the only exception to this requirement is that if the vehicle is not registered for the street (it of course can't be driven to Cohen on the street if it isn't) and/or is a "True Trailer Queen" RACECAR).
  • Third, we will be following SCCA's 2010 sound limits at all our solo and drift events for this year at Cohen.  The SCCA limit is at 100 dBs.  Currently this will be the respected limit.  We are considering lowering the limit to 98 dBs as the SCCA sound limit in the rulebooks is for an airport site, while we have people living right across the street from us at Cohen Stadium.  As an example: Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA has a 93 db sound limit.  All vehicles must have quiet mufflers and/or resonators in place at all times, including turbocharged vehicles.  The lowering of the limit will be discussed during our February Members meeting which is at Jaxon's on the West Side the first Monday of every month at 6:30pm.
  • We will be checking all safety belts, aftermarket seats and their installations according to the current SCCA GCR and/or Solo rulebook.
