Minutes of the March 3, 2008 Members Meeting

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008

Secretary’s Report

            Minutes of the January meeting were presented and approved

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Don Loomis reported that we had a balance of $1772.60 as of 02/29/08.  Don was reimbursed for the annual awards which were paid out of his pocket.

 

Membership Chairman’s Report:

We have 101 official members.  The duties of the membership chair previously held by Karl Busch will be taken over by Dave Lehrschall.  We acquired 2 new members on our test and tune weekend Feb 23rd and 24th.

 

Timing and Scoring

Results from the first event are posted on the website.  Dave is no longer sending a confirmation message when you register on the website.

 

 Solo Chairman’s Report:

-We had 39 competitors for the first championship event, 14 of which were rookies.

-Construction within the Cohen stadium parking lot will be ongoing for at least 2 months.  We need to assign a worker to the grid area where the spectators enter the event at the bridge due to its proximity of moving vehicles.

-Numbers and letters will no longer be available at the event.  Competitors must show up with the required labels in order to participate.

-Competitors will still be allowed to ice and cool their vehicles with water BUT ice will not be allowed to be left on intercoolers while the vehicle is on the course. 

-A minimum amount of water should be kept on hand so as not to store remaining water from the event in the trailer.  Water should be purchased on an as needed basis.

-We need to stress that the participants stay to help pick up the course and to get out to their worker assignments as quickly as possible.

           

 

 

Club Racing Chairman’s Report:

-Richard Dziak gave compliments on the organization and execution of the annual banquet and the awards presented.

-Endowment $4747.00

-Stan Czacki and Jose Gerardo will be participating at nationals (Firebird) on March 8th and 9th.

-Open track day on March 15th at Arroyo Seco Raceway.  $80 entry fee for the entire day racing.

-John Basler is going for his national license on May 3rd and 4th.

-Welcoming 2 new members from Colorado, Barbara and Larry Conrad.

-AZ region is establishing a vintage race on March 22nd and 23rd with the last race of the season happening May 3rd and 4th.

 

Rally Report:

-1st rally event was very successful with 5 cars participating.

-Next event will be March 16th and starts at the NM welcome center.  Flyer is on the pan am website.

-The March 16th event will have mild traps, Clovis will be running the checkpoints, John Basler will be the safety steward and classes will be novice and expert.

-Will meet with the Porsche club on the second Wednesday in March for possible sanctions.

-Lester Townsend expressed his dislike of the new rules set by the SCCA and may not renew his membership.  Lots of first time participants said they will not be returning due to the temporary memberships now required by the SCCA.

-Dave Lehrschall and Daniel Acevedo have completed their two required events to become safety stewards. 

-Class changes with solo participants cannot be done without first consulting the driver.  Please refer to the rule book for clarification on class.
